Mommy Makeover in Colombia

A Mommy Makeover in Colombia refers to the common group of procedures that many mothers seek after they are finished having children. Many times, the operation is performed in one stage, but other moms will prefer to do the procedures over time. In either case, it gives many mothers comfort to know that the changes they see in their bodies following pregnancy may be improved dramatically by our skilled plastic surgeons.

Mothers dedicate a great deal of themselves to their families. It starts with the pregnancy, where the mother’s body changes dramatically. Finally, there comes a time when mothers feel they’re able to address their own needs. After multiple pregnancies and breastfeeding, many women find it impossible for diet and exercise alone to restore their figures. Fortunately, mothers with permanently altered figures find that a Mommy Makeover in Colombia is an excellent solution.

Effects of Pregnancy

Pregnancy and childbirth have many effects on the body, not all of which are temporary. After childbirth, many women find themselves facing similar complaints. The breasts appear deflated, with a loss of fullness and a sagging shape. The abdomen no longer has the same shape, with stretched muscles and skin resulting in visible sagging and stretch marks.

The “Mommy Makeover in Colombia” refers to a number of procedures, performed in combination or in sequence, aimed at restoring Mommy to her pre-pregnancy figure. The procedures often include a breast lift (with or without augmentation), tummy tuck, and sometimes liposuction. A wide array of facial rejuvenation procedures are available as well to help mothers look and feel younger from head to toe.

Every Mommy Makeover is unique. Mommy Makeovers in Colombia are designed to counteract the physical effects of childbearing and to enhance your appearance after time has left its mark. Because each procedure is personalized and many makeovers combine various plastic surgery procedures after pregnancy for a complete transformation, each Mommy Makeover is different.

There are multiple variations of the Mommy Makeover in Colombia, of course, and our plastic surgeons at Premium Care individualize the plan for each patient depending on their needs. Knowing your options is the first step in determining what you want to change. We designed this page for women to explore the cosmetic surgery procedures available. All of the procedures described on this site can be integrated into your plastic surgery in Colombia. Each patient determines what her personal Mommy Makeover will involve after we discuss her concerns and options in a thorough consultation.

You may wish to diminish the lines and wrinkles around your eyes or rejuvenate your face with a facelift. You may want appear more fresh with an eyelid surgery, or you may want to fix your nose to balance your facial features. You may be seriously considering a breast reduction, breast augmentation, or breast lift after breastfeeding. You may need help getting rid of excess skin and fat deposits that won’t go away with diet and exercise and want to combine procedures like tummy tuck and liposuction. Moms from Colombia, Central and South America, and  United States can customize their makeover to fit almost any need.

A Mommy Makeover in Colombia may be performed in one or more stages. Age, health, needs and desires are all considered carefully when we formulate a plan for each patient. The majority of our patients choose to do more than one procedure at a time.

Every patient at Premium Care Plastic Surgery seeking body improvement after child birth will meet with our plastic surgeons to discuss their desires and design a personalized plan. Knowing your options is the first step in determining what you want to change. Here are some of the options.

The abdomen tends to experience the greatest change following pregnancy with stretch marks, loose skin and lower abdominal fat being the most common complaints. Caesarean section scars may accentuate fatty bulges by tethering the skin to the underlying muscles, causing the fat and loose skin to fold over the scar. The abdominal muscles may also be stretched to the point that they remain separated in the midline, accentuating the patient’s lower abdominal bulge. Fat also redistributes with age, becoming concentrated in the lower abdomen. To treat these problems, we perform a tummy tuck where we remove the excess skin and fat from the abdomen and tighten the muscles.

If you’re a mom, you know the reality: that having a baby changes your body in ways that can’t always be erased with diet and exercise. No matter how long it’s been since you delivered, no matter how hard you’ve worked to get back in shape, if your abdomen still won’t completely retract, don’t blame yourself. Once skin and muscle have been stretched from pregnancy, they frequently will not return to their pre-pregnancy form.

Stretch marks, belly button deformities and skin laxity are all reasons a mother might benefit from tummy tuck surgery in Cartagena. A tummy tuck is a surgical procedure that tightens abdominal muscles and removes excess skin and fat to create a trimmer waistline. Also known as abdominoplasty, women choose this procedure to get their midsection back in shape.

After childbirth, abdominal muscles and skin may be stretched beyond their ability to flatten out again. In most cases, there is no other remedy than a tummy tuck. Tummy tuck surgery allows the surgeons at Premium Care Plastic Surgery to suture the walls of the muscle together, strengthening and tightening the muscle to create a smaller waist.

Some women choose liposuction to complement their slim new abdomen, and many add a breast augmentation or breast lift in Colombia. This combination of procedures completes their transformation back to the hourglass figure they once had, restoring a youthful appearance and confidence.

Tummy tuck can be performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthetic. There are several different types of tummy tucks, but all of them involve the removal of excess skin and fat using a lower abdominal incision. The abdominal muscles are tightened and the remaining skin is then pulled downward. In most cases the belly button must be repositioned resulting in a circular scar around it. The lower abdominal incision usually extends from hip to hip and is discreetly concealed below the bikini line, so you can still hit the beaches. During a tummy tuck, drains are used to assist healing, and they’re removed 1 to 3 weeks after the surgery.

You will need to return to the doctor’s office for routine visits to follow-up on your recovery. If you are seriously considering tummy tuck surgery we invite you to continue your research by reading the iBook prepared by our practice, explaining the plastic surgery process from start to finish.

One of your strongest motivations for considering a Mommy Makeover in Colombia is probably the way your tummy has changed due to pregnancy and childbirth. In fact, it’s often the first thing women mention during their consultation. However, while a tummy tuck can dramatically improve your appearance, there’s a good chance that your new youthful look won’t feel complete until you enhance your breasts as well. That’s why a Mommy Makeover often includes both a tummy tuck in Colombia and breast lift or augmentation surgery.

  • You will only need general anesthesia once (as opposed to several times)
  • You will only have a single recovery period (as opposed to several separate recovery periods)
  • Cost is generally lower than if each procedure was performed separately

Large studies have confirmed safety and efficacy of combining a breast procedure with a tummy tuck. The results are clear: patients who combined their tummy tuck with breast surgery (such as breast lift, breast reduction, breast augmentation, or breast augmentation and lift together) did not show a noteworthy increase in the risk of complications when compared to patients who chose a tummy tuck alone.

Diet resistant fat on the thighs, hips and abdomen may become an increasingly difficult problem. Mothers around the region are choosing liposuction to improve these areas with minimal scarring.

You would think that working around the clock, taking care of an infant, chasing after a toddler or worrying about an adolescent would be enough to keep any amount of weight off. You may even exercise regularly and eat sensibly. After having children, fat tends to redistribute to new areas on the body where it may be unwanted. This is frequently true even if women are successful at losing their baby weight. Most often, bulges of fat accumulate around the waist and on the thighs. Body sculpting using liposuction is a state of the art technique, and women throughout the region are choosing liposuction to slim their “trouble spots” and reclaiming their figure after childbearing,

After childbirth, this plastic surgery procedure helps many moms love their look again. If you are considering liposuction or are any Mommy Makeover procedure in Colombia, you can take the next step and request a consultation online or call us at (+57) 312 545 5569 in Cartagena and (+1) 305 848 1909 in United States.

There are some areas of fat deposits that will not go away no matter how much you diet and exercise. Imagine having shapely thighs, curvy hips, a heart-shaped bum, a flat tummy, slim knees, or sleek calves. Recent innovations in liposuction make this procedure highly desirable among moms who just need a little extra help getting rid of the extra fat deposits remaining from their pregnancy. If you are also bothered by excess skin, you may want to consider a tummy tuck as well.

Liposuction is performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthetic. Power-assisted liposuction utilizes a vibrating cannula that is inserted through tiny incisions to gently shake the fat cells loose. This facilitates suction removal of fat with more precision and less trauma than other liposuction techniques.

This may surprise you, but the removal of fat through liposuction is permanent. After adolescence our bodies do not create new fat cells. Once a fat cell is removed, it will not “grow back.” If you gain weight, the remaining fat cells will still enlarge, but the areas treated with liposuction will never be as large as they would have been without the procedure.

Sutures are removed one week after surgery. Patients are seen again one or more months later when the swelling has mostly resolved.

If you are seriously considering liposuction surgery we invite you to continue your research by reading the iBook prepared by our practice, explaining the plastic surgery process from start to finish.

The breasts go through dramatic changes with pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Patient concerns about their breasts vary greatly, but the most common breast procedures we perform as part of a Mommy Makeover include breast augmentation, breast lift, breast augmentation and lift, and breast reduction.

Stretched and sagging breasts are common after childrearing, but they don’t have to be a requirement of motherhood. Many mothers have made the choice to get back their beautiful, perky pre-baby breasts with a breast lift, which removes excess skin and tissue for a perkier, more lifted appearance. Breast lift procedures can be performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia. There are several different techniques for lifting the breast to create a firmer, perkier breast. Your skin laxity, volume of breast tissue and desired appearance will determine the technique used. All breast lifts require external incisions that will result in scars. Most patients feel that the dramatic improvement in shape is well worth it.

Women whose breasts have a “deflated” appearance after breastfeeding often choose to pursue breast augmentation as part of their Mommy Makeover. With the use of silicone implants, a natural-looking, more feminine shape is possible

If you’re concerned about loss of breast volume as well as sagging, a breast lift can be combined with breast implants. Combined lift and augmentation will boost your size and improve breast position for breasts that are full and youthful

If you are considering breast surgery we invite you to continue your research by reading the iBook prepared by our practice, explaining the plastic surgery process from start to finish.

The same processes that contribute to laxity of the abdominal tissues will cause similar changes in the face. The sleepless nights and daily stresses of running your family may have taken a toll on your appearance. Already, your face is looking much older than you thought it would at this age. More and more women are realizing that it’s never too early to consider a face lift. The plastic surgeons at Premium Care Plastic Surgery can enhance your cheekbones, jaw line and neck with this procedure. Facelifts aren’t just for celebrities and older patients. In fact, a facelift can revitalize how you look and feel about yourself while you’re still in the prime of your life. Looking young and healthy may make motherhood an even more enjoyable time of life. Facial rejuvenation procedures are commonly performed as part of a Mommy Makeover.

Facelift is also often combined with body enhancement procedures to produce dramatic results, which can lead to high levels of patient satisfaction.

A facelift may be performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia. Incisions are made inside the hairline and around the ear to reduce visible scarring. The underlying muscles and tissues are repositioned, and the skin is tightened to give a more youthful appearance.

You will need to see your surgeon for regular follow-up visits for several months following surgery.

From the moment you went into labor, you stopped sleeping and may not have caught up since. Many of our patients tell us their eyes haven’t looked well-rested in years, and that they appear years older than they feel. An eyelid lift in Cartagena can make a huge improvement for drooping, puffy eyelids. With one simple procedure you can look younger, more alert and well rested.

Drooping eyelids make you look old and tired. Imagine appearing vibrant and alert from the moment you wake up in the morning until late in the evening, with no more people telling you that you look tired. Best of all, patients heal very quickly from the procedure so it won’t keep you away from your family. After all the sleepless nights and extra effort you’ve made to keep your family happy and healthy, don’t your own eyes deserve the same attention?

Eyelid surgery after pregnancy may be performed under local or general anesthetic on an outpatient basis. An incision is made in the crease of the upper eyelid and a strip of excess skin and fat is removed. Sutures are hidden in the natural folds of the eyelid. For the lower eyelids, many patients do not need an external incision because the fat (causing the puffiness) may be removed from behind the lower eyelid. These lower eyelid incisions heal so quickly that they do not need sutures.

Routine office visits are needed for monitoring following eyelid surgery.

If you are seriously considering having eyelid surgery we invite you to continue your research by reading the iBook prepared by our practice, explaining the plastic surgery process from start to finish.

It’s a delicate subject, but an important one for your health and satisfaction. Simply put, childbirth causes many changes to your vaginal area. The birthing process can permanently stretch and loosen the labia, the skin that covers the vaginal opening. For years, cosmetic surgeons have been able to correct stretched or sagging skin in this area, but recent media attention has prompted many more women to consider this procedure. Surgeons use labiaplasty to correct large or misshapen labial skin and to enhance the external appearance of the vagina. Ultimately an intimate, private decision, women considering this surgery often seek guidance from the surgeons at Premium Care Plastic Surgery in Cartagena.

Mothers are often unhappy with stretching of the exterior vaginal area caused by natural childbirth. Extended labia can cause discomfort when engaging in physical activity, or even when sitting for long periods of time, and may make you uncomfortable or self-conscious in intimate settings.

Labiaplasty is performed on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia or twilight sedation supplemented by local anesthesia. Skin and fatty tissue in the labia are carefully sculpted depending on your surgical needs.

You will need to return to our surgical offices for routine visits to follow-up on your recovery.

Premium Care Plastic Surgery encourages you to take a few simple steps in preparation for your Mommy Makeover in Colombia. Following the steps presented below will make your recovery from surgery as safe, short and relaxing as possible.

Your surgeon will provide you with a list of specific steps you should take leading up to your procedure. This list might include limiting your use of certain medications, alcohol and cigarettes, and minor changes in your grooming habits. These changes are temporary but very important to your comfort and safety.

  • Get lab testing or a medical evaluation
  • Take certain medications or adjust your current medications
  • Stop smoking well in advance of surgery
  • Avoid taking aspirin, anti-inflammatory drugs and herbal supplements as they can increase bleeding
  • What to do on the day of surgery
  • The use of anesthesia during your liposuction
  • Post-operative care and follow-up
  • Medications and compression garments to purchase and bring with you on the day of surgery

A patient’s final result will be enhanced through active participation in preparing for Mommy Makeover procedures. Patients considering abdominoplasty, breast enhancement, and facial plastic surgery need to maintain a healthy, well-balanced diet to prepare for surgery. Patients should strive to reach their ideal weight by using a disciplined approach to nutrition. Consultation with one of our specialized nutritionists may assist a patient in achieving that goal. When a patient is at or near their ideal weight, it is possible for the surgeon to get the best results. Interestingly, many patients are inspired to diet and exercise more diligently when they see the postoperative results from a Mommy Makeover. Patients who maintain a healthy lifestyle after their procedure(s) will usually see further improvement in their figure.

Smoking increases the risks of many potential complications of surgery and should be avoided. Patients who smoke should stop at least two months before surgery, but even then they are still at increased risk when compared to non-smokers. Nicotine patches or gum are also associated with increased complications and should not be used in preparation for surgery.

A regular exercise routine is also helpful preparation. By building muscle, a patient increases their basal metabolic rate. This makes it easier to avoid weight gain, especially in the postoperative period when physical activity is minimal. Cardiovascular exercise strengthens the heart and promotes a faster recovery from surgery. If a patient has a regular exercise routine, it is much easier to resume these activities after recovering from surgery. Using a trainer to supervise workouts is a safe and effective way to approach preparing for surgery in Cartagena.

Medical problems should be optimally managed before surgery. Patients who have their own internal medicine physician are encouraged to visit their doctor in preparation for surgery. Your surgeon will perform a history and physical examination as a part of the pre- operative visit. If additional medical consultations are necessary, your surgeon will assist you in locating the appropriate specialist.

Preparations for surgery should include these steps of diet, exercise and health maintenance. Patients who actively participate in this way will have the greatest improvements, fewest complications and fastest recovery from surgery.

Preparing your home before your procedure will help ensure a safe and relaxing recovery. If your procedure will impact your ability to stand or walk for long periods, or reach high places, you may want to prepare meals in advance and move kitchen items out of cupboards and onto the counter. Having a phone, medications and other necessities on a night stand or side table will keep you from having to get up and down. Having extra pillows and blankets already on your bed or couch can also keep you comfortable. If you have pets or children, you should make sure someone is available to care for them while you are recuperating.

On the day of your surgery, we ask that you wear no jewelry or make-up and avoid deodorant, skin lotions and perfume. We recommend warm, loose fitting clothing, such as pajamas or sweat pants with thick socks or slippers to prevent the chills commonly experienced after surgery. Please inform your surgeon if you have a cold, sore throat, active allergies or an open cut or sore on the day of your surgery.
Most of our patients will be able to go home the same day they undergo surgery, though patients with combination surgeries often choose to stay in the hospital one evening for ease and comfort. It is important to make arrangements in advance for someone to drive you home and provide watchful care during the first 48 hours after surgery.

You’ll need help. Arrange for someone to drive you to and from surgery and to stay with you for at least the first night following surgery. Effective planning prior to undergoing surgery can make your recovery as brief and relaxing as possible.

Procedure & Recovery

Medications are administered for your comfort during surgery. This typically involves general anesthesia for Mommy Makeovers. At Premium Care, our plastic surgeons work together with our anesthesiologists to develop an individualized treatment plan to optimize safety, comfort, and results for each patient. Local anesthesia infiltration is used to minimize blood loss and decrease post operative pain.

The precise maneuvers during your Mommy Makeover depend on your individualized surgical plan. Your surgeon will discuss this in detail with you. Your Mommy Makeover procedure(s) in Colombia will result in a better appearance of the area(s) treated and more youthful appearance overall. The final results may be initially obscured by swelling until healing is complete. Within a week or two, you should be standing tall and confident about your new look.

If you’re ready to meet with our plastic surgeons at Premium Care Plastic Surgery in Colombia, you can request a consultation online or contact us at (+57) 312 545 5569 in Cartagena and (+1) 305 848 1909 in United States.  You’ll be amazed about how affordable cosmetic plastic surgery can be, and with an experience like no other!

You will be given specific instructions to aid your recovery from Mommy Makeover surgery in Colombia: how to care for the surgical site and drains, medications to apply or take orally to aid healing and reduce the potential for infection, specific concerns to look for at the surgical site or in your general health, and when to follow-up with your plastic surgeon.

Following a Mommy Makeover, patients should prepare to rest for one week after their procedure. An elastic compression garment will be worn under clothing for several weeks. Patients with jobs that do not require physical labor may return to work one to two weeks after surgery. Many patients will feel strong enough to resume activities early, but we encourage patients to minimize unnecessary motion for the few weeks following surgery. Normal exercise routines and lifting may typically be resumed approximately 6 weeks following surgery.

Drains may be used to evacuate fluid that is produced under the skin; they are generally removed the week after your surgery. This allows the skin and superficial tissues to adhere again to the underlying muscle and fibrous tissue. Patients who minimize activity in the weeks following surgery are frequently able to remove their drains sooner.

Most of the sutures that are used to close the incisions are absorbable and do not require removal. The new incision usually appears slightly red in the months following surgery. As the healing progresses and the scar matures, the incision typically fades to a paler color. Improvement in the scar can be expected for up to two years following surgery. The locations of the incisions are designed to be hidden and inconspicuous.

On the first day after surgery, you will not feel too bad. You will be fairly groggy from the anesthetic, so your level of discomfort on the first day is less than day two and day three.

Be diligent about taking your pain medication around the clock. Do not wait to feel the pain in order to assess how much medication you will need. It is best to take the pain medication as directed by your surgeon for the first three days and then think about tapering it off. If you wait to feel the pain, you will have to play catch up with the medications, which leads to high anxiety and the need for more pain medication.

Constipation is inevitable with surgery, anesthesia, pain medications, and decreased mobility. Helpful suggestions for dealing with constipation are over the counter medications such as: Colace, Dulcolax Suppositories, and Fleet enemas. Natural remedies like prune and apple juices work as well.

What will bother you the most will be the drains. They are sometimes a “necessary evil” in the recovery process. Drains are small tubes used to remove fluid such as blood or serum from the site of surgery. The drains may be in anywhere from one to three weeks.

Sleeping comfortably will be somewhat challenging for the first one to three weeks. A foam pillow wedge can help you with sleeping by keeping you at a specific angle. It can also help with getting you get in and out of bed.

Showering after surgery can also be a little bit of a challenge. A sponge bath is recommended for the first three to four days. You honestly won’t have the energy to shower until day four or five. When you do get into the shower, you will take off all compression garments and dressings. Put on an old belt and attach the drains to the belt so your hands are free to wash and steady yourself in the shower. Prepare to be absolutely exhausted after the first couple of showers.

If you have a tummy tuck, you will be walking hunched over for the first week. During week two you will be able to stand more erect. By week three you will be standing and walking normally.

With a full abdominoplasty, we recommend you take at least two weeks off work to recover. If you have a more physically demanding job, more time may be needed. Your surgeon will discuss a specific strategy tailored to you and your individual Mommy Makeover plan.

The surgery is done with absorbable sutures, so there won’t be any stitches to take out. Our physicians do not use staples, so there won’t be any hatchmarks. You will have steri strips over the incisions for the first four to six weeks after surgery. Once the steri strips come off, we recommend silicone sheeting that aids in the healing process of your scars. You will wear the silicone sheeting for approximately three months.
